For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved helping people feel a greater sense of peace and more at home with themselves.

In my occupational life, I have worked and grown in many different helping professions. Whilst working as a birth doula and childbirth educator back in the late 2000s, I met many women who had been sexually abused as children and had not healed fully. This was my first time recognizing the prevalence of sexual trauma and it made me realize I had a lot to learn. I eventually left doula work to get a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling with a focus on Trauma Recovery. After graduating in 2013, I immediately entered full-time Community Behavioral Health and got a post-graduate certificate in Global Trauma Recovery. I gained invaluable experience through my global travel and local therapy practice, learning from communities that have experienced communal trauma and healing. I opened my own private practice in 2016 and obtained my Professional Counseling License (LPC) in 2017.

The more I worked as a talk therapist, the more I felt like something was missing from this form of care. It felt forgetful of the more subtle parts of us. It felt slow and even heartbreakingly ineffective at times. So I began exploring other tried-and-true (but less conventional) forms of healing. Since I had found so much self-discovery and healing by way of my own practice of Yoga and meditation, I signed up for a registered Yoga teacher training. This deepened my personal practices, introduced me to Ayurveda, made me feel closer to myself, and made me feel more qualified and eager to help others in more comprehensive and expressive ways.

We are always evolving and learning. We are not static; we are each a unique process. In my psychotherapy practice, Life in the Whirlwind Therapeutics, we can work together to help you rediscover your innate sense of balance through dialogue, awareness expansion, engaging the body and the Spirit, and inviting the different parts of you to work together as a team. The path to healing is a collaborative journey; my services are tailored to each individual as much as possible, according to your comfort level, set of personal practices, and needs. I hope that all my clients can find an increasing experience of connectedness, safety in the body, and a return to their truest nature.

My personal experience as a woman, as a divorced single mother, and as one who has lost, loved, and grown through many things doesn’t make me an expert on anything, but it does allow me to hold space for others with great compassion, gentleness, and empathy.
